Our Long Trip: Part 2
Well, I guess it's time to continue the story of our very lengthy trip north this summer. Since it has been quite a while since we were gone, I have forgotten many of the details. At this point, it may be more of a pictorial journal.
Anyways, the next big event of our trip was step-brother's wedding. It was a very nice wedding and we had a lot of fun spending time with the family. Sara (the bride) looked beautiful, and both her and Josh were obviously having a wonderful time and enjoying the day as a bride and groom should.
Unfortunately, my dad was not able to attend the wedding since he had to head back to Chicago the day before due to an unexpected medical issue (he's fine now).
Jeff (my brother), Tim (my brother-in-law), and Jer were ushers and in charge of sweeping/vacuuming up the rice that was thrown at the couple after the ceremony. They did a good job, but some took their jobs more seriously than others (I won't mention any names...).
The reception was at a place called The B.O.B. (Big old Building) in downtown Grand Rapids. It was a beautiful place for the party and it was a great night of good food, good dancing, and good company. The best part of the reception was the dessert. Instead of the traditional cake, the couple came around to each table and delivered a large plate of chocolate covered strawberries and homemade caramels.
After the reception was over, we were not ready to call it a night, so we headed over to one of our favorite college hangouts, Yesterdog, for a bite to eat. The place has the best hot dogs and is perfect after a night of...shall I say?...celebrating.
They are the messiest dogs
I have ever had and according to some, you don't eat them, you "drink" them...whatever that means. So, Jer, Joel and Liz (other step-brother and his wife), and my step-mom enjoyed some time "drinking" our yesterdogs in our evening wear.
After all the festivities, Jer and I headed back to our hotel. We were so thankful that Jer's parents took Elise for the night so we were able to enjoy some time by ourselves. All in all , we had a great time at the wedding, celebrating with Josh and Sara and family and friends.
The next morning, we checked out of the hotel, went back to Jer's parent's house, repacked ourselves, and then headed out for a week at Gull Lake Ministries. Stay tuned for that post...

Hey! You look great!!
Things are getting normal here...now that Miss Autumn is able to be out for more than 30 minutes without melting down, we should get together. :)
Haha... love the yesterdog pics. It is so much fun to hear other people's experiences of that night.. and your post reminds me that i want to look at all the photos you folks took!
Great dress and nails...that's what I got out of all the pictures! Sounds like you had fun...I can't believe your dad didn't make it to the wedding!
Sounds like a wonderful wedding, but I have to admit, I keep thinking about the hot dogs... they look so very good! :)
I couldn't see most of the pictures...
I think I would have paid money to see step mom drinking a Yensterdag;)
I can't see pictures past Jer and his cleaning supplies! I want to see the dress and the nails, too!
I can now see the pictures. How daring of you to go completely strapless! Awesome!
