Quick Halloween Candy Stealing Survey
I'm taking a quick survey of parents. Jeremy and I got into a discussion last night about parents and their children's Halloween candy. I was pretty excited that this year Elise has no concept of her candy missing so I felt like I could eat whatever I wanted without upsetting her. Jer said this was the last year we could do that since she will know what is going on next year and it was mean to steal our kids' candy. I remember my mother eating my Halloween candy and if I protested, she would just say, "Oh, I'll buy you some more later." And of course, I never saw that candy again.
So, my survey is as follows:
1. Do you eat your kids' Halloween candy?
2. If yes, do you steal it while they are sleeping or do you ask them if you can have some?
3. Do your children willingly offer some to you or do you have to fight with them over it?
4. Do you think it is cruel to steal it while they are sleeping?
5. What is your favorite Halloween candy?

I totally agree with eating your kids' candy and look forward to trick or treating next year for that very reason! Reese's Peanut Butter Cups... I can't wait!

4. Do you think it is cruel to steal it while they are sleeping? ABSOLUTELY NOT. DO I THINK IT'S CRUEL THAT I AM PERMANENTLY SCARRED WITH STRETCH MARKS AFTER CARRYING THEM FOR 9 MONTHS EACH? YES...I'M 'OWED' A LITTLE CANDY. :)

4. Do you think it is cruel to steal it while they are sleeping? UM, I PAY FOR THEIR HOUSING, FOOD, AND CLOTHING. AND THEY LIVED IN MY UTEREUS. THEY WILL COMPLAIN ABOUT ME FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES~THEY OWE ME CANDY.

1. Do you eat your kids' Halloween candy? IS THE POPE CATHOLIC? UM, YES - I HAVE A SWEET TOOTH AND I'M DUTCH... FREE CANDY, WHO WOULDN"T EAT IT?
2. If yes, do you steal it while they are sleeping or do you ask them if you can have some? BOTH - AND FOR THE RECORD I DON"T CONSIDER IT STEALING. I FIND IT IS MY DUTY TO TRY TO PREVENT THEM FROM GETTING CAVATIES ANY WAY THAT I CAN, AND IF THAT MEANS I HELP MYSELF TO THEIR (FREE) CANDY, THEN I'M DOING MY JOB AS A PARENT.

IT ISN'T STEALING!!! PERHAPS WHEN THEY'RE OLDER AND THEY START COUNTING THEIR CANDY I'LL HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION, BUT FOR NOW OUT OF SIGHT=OUT OF MIND, SO AFTER HALLOWEEN NIGHT, IF I PUT THE PUMPKIN OUT OF SIGHT THEY FORGET ABOUT IT. RYANN ALREADY HAS NO IDEA THAT THERE IS A HUGE BOWL OF CANDY ON TOP OF THE FRIDGE. WHAT WAS THE QUESTION? OH YEAH - DEFINITELY NOT CRUEL TO TAKE IT WHILE THEY'RE SLEEPING, AS SOON AS THEY BEGIN PAYING FOR THEIR COSTUMES, I'LL RETHINK MY POSITION ON THAT.
