Pop, Soda, or Coke?
My step sister-in-law recently had a post on her blog about what to call the blinking light on your car that lets others know you are making a turn. The comments turned into a debate on what to call carbonated beverages. Since my husband is full of weird knowledge (some boring, some not-so-boring), I thought I would share an interesting site he found on the subject.

I love that site! it is so interesting to see that counties with colleges break the rules for the surrounding areas (kent county in michigan)
It's definitely coke. Don't people know Coke is a brand name? I guess that's kind of like kleenex...... do you call it a kleenex (regardless of brand) or a tissue? Such things to ponder....

That is hilarious...do you think that is a government funded study? I never knew Coke was used as a name for pop until I met my suitemate in college. She always ordered an orange coke???? Whatever!
Tim says Coke~"I want a Coke." So i hand him one. "No, I wanted Mountain Dew." UGH!
And my college roomie was from upstate NY so she had soda. Drove me nuts. . .til i started saying it!
i definitely knew i was in the south when i went through a drive-thru and ordered a "medium coke" and they asked me "what kind?"
sooooooda. used to call it paaaaap like all good mid-westerners, but in college i decided that i hated the sound of the word - sounds so nasaly. I've also heard some chicagoans get annoyed with people making the same sound in chicaaaaago. consistency people:) Soda. And I do get made fun of for it.
yes, jana. according to the map, you are the only person from michigan that calls it "soda."
waah waah - at least I'm famous for something.
okay, forget pop, soda, or coke -- just get me a beer, MGD, brewski, cold one, Lite, or whatever you want to call it, I really don't care -- just get me one now!

I wrote COKE? no no no... it is POP ( I disagree with my husband on this one)
Coke is the one. If you want a pop I will give you one right in the kisser with a righthook!
